This assets was created as part of a scene I put together for this years Search For A Star competition.
Besides the hero asset it was the one I spent the most time on by far. The scene for which it was made was a motel room in the 70s so I tried to find reference for smaller TV sets that were around at the time. Mainly I was just going for the look though over historical accuracy.
I spent a lot of time in Substance Painter for this one, something I’ve never really done on any single asset. I had to rush some areas due to time constraints, mainly the back panel, but all in all I’m happy with how it turned out and I learned a bunch doing it which is all I can ask really.
All texture work was done by me, some materials such as the wood were made from scratch in Substance Designer whereas others were simply layered up in Substance Painter. The asset itself was modelled in Maya and I followed a typical high poly to low poly workflow.
