神奈川県横浜市に存在する超芸術トマソン 昇って降りるだけの“無用階段”或いは”純粋階段”
Super Art Thomason in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture “Useless stairs” or “pure stairs” that just go up and down
This area’s history began in 1863 when French troops were stationed here, after which the French Consulate and its residence were built on this site. Although the French Consulate was destroyed in the Great Kanto Earthquake, the hill where it stood (known as French Hill) was purchased by Yokohama City from France and is now open to the public as French Hill Park

Note: “Hyperart Thomasson” (超芸術トマソン) is a concept created by Japanese artist Akasegawa Genpei referring to architectural features and objects that serve no purpose but are maintained nonetheless. “Kamaboko” likely refers to the shape of the protrusion resembling a kamaboko (Japanese fish cake).
