More model informationThis reconstruction of the workshop of a blacksmith in the historical park of Campus Galli, Germany tries to re-interpret the concept of a sunken hut (Grübenhaus). Because of the initial misinterpretation of these archaeological structures as dwellings, these workshops are still depicted in many publications or even physical reconstructions as very closed and dark. However, for this type of workshop, it is impossible to have little air circulation and light, so the scientific team of Campus Galli came up with another concept that has been put to test in real life at the park. This concept has been further improved and tested (and seems to work properly). Is used in the virtual reconstruction of the portus of Ename in 1020.
