More model informationThis cannon is from the 1677 battle of Rockley Bay. It was raised in 2000, but never conserved. It is literally falling apart, and you can see huge chunks of iron flaking off. Artifacts from submerged sites decay without conservation. That is why the new conservation lab in Scarborough, Tobago, is so important. It is an essential component of the ongoing effort by Dr. Kroum Batchvarov of the University of Connecticut to investigate Tobago’s underwater heritage.
