Mandibular Second molar:

o More rectangular shaped.

o The mesial surface is slightly larger buccolingually than the distal surface.

o Two buccal cusps – never presents a distal cusp. Mesial cusps are slightly larger than distal.

o Occlusal anatomy resembles a cross.

o Buccal groove is more evident than lingual.

o Long central groove and deep central pit.

o Two roots, mesial and distal, with similar structure when compared to the mandibular first molars.

o However, roots are less divergent roots and present a longer root trunk.
