Extremely beautiful folded and faulted gneiss (24”x19”x14”) found in an alluvial fan originating in the Black Mountains in Death Valley, CA. The rocks are at least 1.8Ga in age, and represent the roots of a long-since-eroded Himalaya-sized mountain range created during the Yavapi Orogeny.
