This iron gun is on display in the Morrab Gardens, Penzance and was apparently donated by Roland Morris. It is an 18 pound Armstrong pattern gun from the later part of the eighteenth century. We know that Roland Morris removed many guns from the wreck of HMS Colossus in the 1980s – so this could be one of the upper gun-deck cannons from Colossus.
We used this ‘land based’ gun as our first trial of structure from motion photogrammetry before going on to apply the technique to the underwater guns on the wreck of Colossus.
