More model informationThe 1851 Navy Colt was a cylinder loaded gun with a built-in ram rod and required percussion caps and black powder. The serial number 116246 was hand stamped on several portions of the gun. The gun was found partially exposed in eolian sediment. It measured approximately 13 x 5 1/2 inches. At least three miniballs (there may be one in the chamber) were visible in the revolver. The two empty chambers did not have percussion caps suggesting that they were not loaded prior to the abandonment/loss of the weapon.
