More model informationAn early 19th century cold store for preserving food. Discovered during an excavation of the rear garden of a property that once fronted St Nicholas Street in Weymouth, Dorset. The structure comprised single width dry stone walls cut into natural sand. The cold store was filled with mid-19th century demolition rubble and then covered over to form part of a theatre entrance. It measured 1.90m x 1.40m and just over 1m deep.
