More model informationShips and letters carved on east wall in Casement Room 28 of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. These British ships are carved in an area high on the wall and not easily viewed. Along with the 200-year-old ship graffiti drawings you will notice alphabet letters where soldiers likely practiced their writing. Some letters are backwards, likely due to many soldiers being illiterate. Numerous areas of letter writing practice can be found on the walls were soldiers stayed, pointing to their pursuit of learning how to read and write during their time at the Castillo.
