Volkswagen made motorsport history at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on 24 June with the I.D. R Pikes Peak electric racing car: French racing driver Romain Dumas took just 7 minutes 57.148 seconds to cover the 19.99 kilometers of the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the 500 kW / 680 PS zero-emission, four-wheel drive racing thoroughbred.
