Description: A complete gilded silver engraved finger ring of Late Medieval dating (AD 1400 to AD 1500).
The external surface of the ring is fully decorated. At the top, a silver pyramidal bezel of 6 mm in height and 4.5 mm at its widest. The bezel is flanked either side by dragon or snake heads which flow to five conjoined solid hemispheres. Each hemisphere is inscribed with a letter and all but the last contain a star or cross. My interpretation of the inscription is “I N R I M”.
The inscription stands for Jesus Nazareth Rex Judaeorum (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews), and the M standing for Mary.
