Every I Ching hexagram (six lines, open or closed) is constructed out of two triplets of three lines. We have 8 triplets or trigrams, 8x8 = 64, and every cube has 8 corners.
From corner to corner we count 28 paths to go in two directions. Each of the 28 paths give us a triplet above and below, forming one hexagram. In this 3D model we see the U Ching cube numbers assigned to them.
We see that the 8 corners hold the multiples of nine (0, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63). These hexagrams have the same triplet above as below. The remaining 56 cube numbers (64-8) are coded code on the 28 paths in both directions.
8 paths we do not see in this model, they are the diagonals inside this 3D cube model. Which cube numbers define the inner paths of our cube?
