α-conotoxins are cyclic peptides produced by Cone snails that bind to nAChRs and inhibit neuron ligand-gated ion channels. This inhibition is used by cone snails to paralyse its prey or predators it also has possible therapeutic uses such as pain relief for humans. This model is a tour of the interactions between α-conotoxin ImI with Ac-AChBP focusing on just one subuint and its interaction with the receptors. Ac-AChBP is similar to nAChRs so understanding this interaction can help us understand interactions between α-conotoxin and nAChRs to help us understand how to make use of its possible therapeutic uses.
