3D Pointcloud of the Alberty House3D ModelNoAI
This vernacular-style house belonged to Beulah Alberty, granddaughter to Primus and Amanda Mitchell, who were enslaved on the Rayfield, Greene, and Stafford Plantations on Cumberland Island until 1862. In the 1890s, land was made available for purchase on the northern portion of the island, which came to be called the Settlement. Here, five acres of land were subdivided into 50 x 100 feet lots, and freed people purchased and constructed homes and a church central to the community. Beulah would be instrumental with the First African Baptist Church, was a teacher, and was considered the Settlement’s mayor. Today, the home is open and contains a historical exhibition, with the church property also open next door. Our 3D modeling originates from the site’s 3D terrestrial laser scanning survey work, used for interpretive and preservation efforts. It is part of a program with the National Park Service and Cumberland Island National Seashore. Ideal Model: https://skfb.ly/oPPLX
