3D Scan cut metatarsus for needle production

This bronzeage metatarsus was digitized for my Master Thesis using Agisoft.

It shows common traces of needle production, like deep longitudinal cuts as well as cuts to get rid of the epiphysis.

On 3D Models like this, it’s possible to estimate the maximum number of needles that can be made out of this bone.

in this case there remains enough to make two 8 cm long, 5mm wide needles.
