Feeling weak and tired, TB patients had to rest most of the time. It could get boring. In the video, you saw Edward pick up an object and look through it. It was a stereoscope — a 3D viewer, something like an early version of a VR headset, Google Cardboard, or Viewmaster. People could place different slides into the holder and see scenes from world travels, comic stories, or beautiful landscapes. It was one way to pass the long hours.
