This is a 3D model of an ancient marble sculpture in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, Greece (catalog no. 6323). The Minotaur sculpture was found in Plaka and the artist is unknown. The Minotaur was a mythical beast, believed to be a bull headed man. In mythology, Queen Pasiphae of Crete had relations with a bull and gave birth to the Minotaur. It then resided within a labyrinth. It was regularly offered young men and women to satisfy its cannibalistic hunger. It would later be killed by the hero Theseus.
