The massive quadrangular terracotta tile has two prominent edgings on both long sides. A rib can be seen close to one of the short sides. On all the four corners it has chamfers that allowed a better fixation on the wooden structure of the roof (two of them are on the upper side and two more are on the lower side). This type of tiles was used for roofing massive buildings, especially watch towers and dwelling towers (fragments were discovered in large quantities in the towers at Costeşti-Cetăţuie, Costeşti-Blidaru, Luncani - Piatra Roşie etc.). It is, in fact, a local imitation of Hellenistic prototypes. Find spot: Luncani – Piatra Roşie Dimensions: Length – 68,5 cm; Width – 51,2 cm, Thickness – 3,2 cm; Material: terracotta Execution technique: hand-made, oxidation firing
