More model informationBetween 1881 and 1893 a substantial boat burial site from the late Germanic Iron Age was discovered in the cemetery at Vendel Church in Uppland, Sweden. The finds were so extraordinary that the location was used to name the period between 550 and 750 CE – Now known as the Vendel Period.
While many of the burials at Vendel had already been plundered in antiquity, the graves of Vendel I, XII and XIV had remained undisturbed. The helmets found in these graves were manufactured in Scandinavia and represent an exceptional evidence of the late Germanic Iron Age in Northern Europe, both in terms of their uniqueness, completeness and quality.
