A two-storey semi-stone mansion in the deserted village of Vengino, located on a hillock on the left bank of the winding Nozhigi river. This huge house was built, without exaggeration, by the St. Petersburg merchant Vasily Nikolaevich Kanaev, who organized a real merchant’s estate in Vengino in a remote region, among the majestic Sudai forests and endless swamps. This is a rare example of a rural merchant’s estate, architecturally combining a chopped rural house on a stone basement with provincial motifs of urban Art Nouveau.
