More model informationAn elaborately carved doorway in the South Quire Transept of Rochester Cathedral dates from the 1340s. Rochester’s medieval monks used this as a night-time entrance from their dormitory in the adjacent priory. Bishop Hamo de Hythe’s design includes a representation of himself at the top of the arch. The tiny naked figure is his soul ascending heavenward.
