9½" Bodrhan Tipper for 3D-Printing3D Model
7I had fantastic luck 3D-printing functional drum-sticks and specialized guitar-picks, so I gaved bodhran sticks a try too. (Howdy Ireland, from Arizona!)
By giving it ‘stipes’, the interlocking parts actually make better use of the directional printing-grain; but they also make color options fun, too. Just sayin. Glow-in-the-dark highlights always look supurb, and you just can’t do that with real wood.
To use the heat-expansion from printing to fit the interlocking parts together, print the inside-parts FIRST, let them cool, then assemble the stick while the larger parts are still warm/expanded. A drop or two of superglue for insurance works well, but no glue at all may be necesarry. I had to tap mine together with a hammer!
Use a very fine layer-height for a smoother finish that won’t rub your hand raw.
You can adjust the density of the print to change the weight and balance, without even changing the dimensions.
This is a replica of a wood one that I bought. Please see HERE for an improved version.
