This tombstone celebrates lifetime achievements of Chak-Took’-Tuun-Ahk-Chamiiy (Kamay?), who was a provincial ruler in the Piedras Negras kingdom in what is now Guatemala. Its installation as a shrine centerpiece marked the final stage in the funerary rituals, a year after his death. A royal carver was comissioned to make the monument as a gift from the king to his deceased apointee and his family.
