This rounded structure is inside of a farm turf wall enclosure at a peninsula close to the sea at Skálanes, East-Iceland. This structure has been an object of speculation amongst the archaelogist that have inspected it out in the field. Was it a place to gather sheep or other animals in 18th or 19th century? Or could this perhaps be one of the rounded enclosures that were built around the first churches in Iceland around the year 1000 AD? No historical records regarding this structure have been preserved. Only an archaeological excavation will answer those questions in the future.
