A Statue for Solomon - Stretching Pose
This design is one of 4 designs proposed to commemorate Solomon the Cat, a much loved character from the town of Leigh. Solomon brought joy to the lives of countless people around the town while out roaming.
On May 25th 2016, Solomon passed away, with many local people paying their respects via social media and it making the local press.
Solomon was a character that meant a lot to all of us at Monument Men, so we decided to make a memorial to Solomon and site it at one of the locations which he used to visit often, which included the church of St Mary the Virgin (Leigh Parish Church), the Turnpike Centre, ASDA, As In Eden Community Centre, Leigh CE infants school and the offices of Platinum Projects Europe on Walmesley Road.
The statue designs will be subject to an online poll, with the chosen design being 3D printed and cold cast before mounted on a plinth which will be displayed as part of a public memorial.
