A-un Dragon built in 1637

Here is the dragon with open-mouth, built in 1637 for the mausoleum of Masamune DATE, popular BUSHO called one-eyed Dragon.

In Japanese shirine, you may see a pair of the animal statues with open and closed mouth named A-un statue. In Japanese Mikkyō Buddhism, the term A-un (阿吽) , originally the Sanskrit term composed of the first and the last of the Sanskrit alphabet, represent the beginning and the end of the universe.

The dragon statue therefore represent the beginning of the universe!
