I was driving home when it occurred to me to check G_Maps for some places that might be potential targets for my “abandoned and rusty” interests. I found quite a good spot where what looked like some wrecked railway cars could be seen. So I went there, launched the drone and my jaw dropped. Right in front of me, from a perfect position where no one was bothering me and the drone had an ideal view and access, several abandoned locomotives appeared. Some were in fairly good shape, others were almost completely dismantled, with exposed engines. I started taking photos immediately. The excellent midday light also played a great role, and in the time it took to use up two batteries, I managed to capture as much photos as I could. I always tell myself: don’t be lazy, always go out into the field if you feel like you might discover something interesting.
