Aberlemno 1 – the Serpent Stone is an early medieval carved Class I stone thought to date to the 8th or 9th centuries. The unshaped standing stone is carved with Pictish symbols a serpent, a double disc, a Z-rod and a mirror and comb. The reverse side of the stone has prehistoric cup marks on it demonstrating it was an earlier standing stone which was reused in the early medieval period.
