Abiding Ring

The ring is given to a child to mark their passage to adulthood. But the stone is rough to show that they have a long way to go. As the young adult grows the stone is polished by the harsh sandy winds of the Yorka valley, until it shines just as the adult does at their peak age. Older members of the community can lose their ring or have it break, and they respond very emotionally to this. So it is a core part of their identity.
