While this wreck has never been officially identified, it’s believed to be the steamer tugboat “Abille”, built in 1936 in Leith, drafted into Kriegsmarine in 1940. It’s believed to have sank while helping another ship on the Hel Peninsula’s roadstead in winter of 1945.
The wreck is 37 meters long, about 8 meters wide, lies on the depth of 47 meters in front of Hel harbor. It’s preserved in amazing condition, with one of the fantastic features being the steam engine room. Unfortunately, the huge funnel broke and fell off the wreck a few years ago. Its remains lie next to the wreck (not included on this model)
The model was created from almost 10 000 photographs, taken during 150 minutes spent on the bottom with water temperature 4 degrees Celsius.
