Structures in red represent š¯›½ā€“ARs from the binding of the fluorescent Ī²2 -antagonist. The green fluorescence represents the expression of Ī±-AR from the binding of BODIPY FL-Prazosin (QAPB). The cell nuclei stained with Syto82 are coloured bright blue.
The presence of a sigle sympathetic nerve (red) with a high expression of š¯›½ā€“ARs is shown located in the periphery of the adventita. Surrounding adventitial cells (blue) also present with a high expression of š¯›½ā€“ARs and some are seen to be in extreme close proximity to the nerve itself. Although the presence of Ī±-ARs is represented by the colour green, the thin green structural fibres running across the model most likely represent elastin as these fibres are weakly fluorescent.
