More model informationOutside the front of Baltimore’s City Hall stands a 9-ft tall monument to the African American soldiers who fought and died in America’s wars. Instead of bearing a weapon, the soldier holds a wreath with a scroll featuring dates of major wars, from the Revolution to Vietnam. It was sculpted by James E. Lewis in 1971 and was moved to its current location after a redesign of the War Memorial Plaza in 2007.
