More model informationThe 138 ft schooner Alida J. Rogers was built in 1862 in Ohio. Over its 36-year career it was rebuilt twice and remeasured. On Oct 9, 1898, it was sailing for Sandusky with a load of pig iron and started leaking badly. Realizing he could not make port, Captain Conlin decided to try to beach her on Mission Point of Grand Traverse Bay. He did not make it and sank in fifty foot of water north of the point. Today it lies in 50 ft of water and is part of the Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve. The model was created from 2,102 30-megapixel images shot by Andrew Goodman in the 2025 season.
