Al Zubarah Fort was built in 1938, in the historical pearl trading town of Al Zubarah, on the north-western coast of Qatar. It was part of a series of forts that protected Qatar’s coastline and safeguarded the sea and freshwater sources of the region. The Fort’s design recalls earlier features common in Arab and Gulf fortifications, including a combination of both round and square corner towers, pointed crenellations, sloping walls, and a square ground plan.
This photogrammetric model was created using 247 photos taken with a Nikon D610. No aerial photography was used in the model processing. The top model has been reconstructed using ZBrush for the mesh and Affinity Photo and Blender for the texture.
