More model information- Pollen from alder (Alnus glutinosa, Betulaceae).
- Alder pollen is distinctive and very effectively dispersed by wind - it’s been found in bogs in Southern Brazil, having been blown most of the way across the continent from the Andes! It’s also one of only two pollen types that can cause hayfever in European winter (the other being hazel pollen).
- Technical description of Alnus glutinosa pollen, from PalDat (Halbritter, Sam & Weber, 2016): medium-sized isopolar monads, oblate, polygonal in polar view, stephanoporate/pentaporate, with a scabrate exine.
