Esta pequeña figura ecuestre que representa a Alejandro Magno en la batalla de Gránico fue realizada a partir de un bronce que apareció en las excavaciones de Herculano hacia 1760 - 1762. Esta excepcional pieza fue especialmente creada por Antonio Reder para el rey Carlos III. Es un vaciado con añadidos metálicos y con un gran acabado, lo que denota su importancia. Fue la primera de las piezas enviadas a España para Carlos III en 1763. El original se encuentra actualmente en el Museo de Nápoles (4996)

This small equestrian figure depicting Alexander the Great at the Battle of Granicus was made from the bronze original that appeared in the excavations of Herculaneum (1760 - 1762). This exceptional piece was specially crafted by Antonio Reder for King Carlos III of Spain. It is a plaster cast with metallic details and a great quality, which reflects its importance. It was the first of the pieces sent to Spain for Carlos III in 1763. The original is in the Naples Museum (4996)
