More model informationThis is a model of a plaster copy of a marble Roman herm, a bust on a pillar. The inscription says: “Alexander, son of Philip, of Macedon”. The Roman version in its turn was copied after a bronze original made by the greek sculpture Lysippus ofr Alexandre himself ca. 330 BC. Therefore this must be the most realistic of all the Alexander heads thata remain. After Alexander’s death, Lysippus’ portrait becam the model for any HJellenistic king’s portrait.
