The 286 ft wooden bulk freighter Alfred P. Wright was built in 1888 in Cleveland, Ohio. When built it had a double steeple compound engine but that was removed along with its machinery in the salvage effort after it sank. The Wright was loaded with grain on its last voyage and caught fire and burned to the waterline while sheltering from a storm in the lower entry of the Portage Waterway, Today it sits in 20 ft of water on a sandy bottom near the waterway entry. The model was created from approximately 2500 30-megapixel images shot in the 2024 season by Ken Merryman supported by Gary Myhrman and Andrew Goodman.
