More model informationThe owner of this pistol, Thomas Durbin started the first meat market in Cheyenne, WY in the early 1870s. Thomas brought in 900 sheep planning to butcher them. He ended up breeding them instead and became a successful sheep rancher. The Allen Pepperbox was a less expensive alternative to Colt revolvers and was very popular in the mid-19th Century. Note that one of the six barrels has burst, probably from an overloaded charge of powder.
