3D scan of the skull of an Alpine ibex (Capra ibex)
The alpine ibex, characterized by the large horns present in the male, measures about 130 cm in length (tail excluded) with a weight that in males can reach 120 kg. The colour of the coat changes with the seasons. In summer the hair is short and light colour, while in winter it is replaced by thick fur with longer darker hairs. It lives in high altitude rocky environments and the steep rocky ridges facing south, rich in the herbaceous vegetation it feeds on.
