Here the shoreline is Thorr granite (3) cut by a felsite dyke (1) and the cliffs are made up of unconformable Pleistocene sediments overlain by peat. The peat here is still cut by hand for domestic fuel in limited volumes (2).
This was the site of a promontory fort (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promontory_fort), age unknown but assumed to be Iron Age (500 BC - 400 AD) - the bases of some of the walls can be seen in 4-6.
