More model informationThis is an Altar to Jupiter, king of the gods found at Old Kilpatrick. Every Roman fort would most likely have a shrine to him, often shown carrying a lightning bolt. The saucer shape on the top of the altar is called a focus, where fires could sometimes be lit.
The Antonine Wall stretched right across Scotland, from the Clyde to the Forth. Constructed around 142 AD, and occupied for only 20 years, the remains of its ramparts, steep ditches, forts and bathhouses are still visible today.
