More model informationBiggin Church, first established in 1711, served the rich Barbados planter class of St. Johns Parish in Goose Creek, South Carolina. The brick church was completed in 1761 and leading citizens of Charleston, Henry Laurens and William Moultrie both attended. The church was occupied by the British during the Revolutionary War and burned upon their retreat to Charleston in 1781. The church fell out of use during the Civil War and collapsed during the earthquake of 1886 and forest fire of 1895. The cemetery grounds surrounding the church are still in use
