Old Sheldon Church in Beaufort County was the chapel of ease for Prince Williams Parish in South Carolina and built between 1745 and 1753. Burned by the British in 1779, it was rebuilt by 1821, only to be gutted again during Sherman’s march from Savannah through the Carolinas.
