More model informationThis is an Orangutan cranium from a man named Amigo. He lived at the Como Zoo for many years before passing away in Dec 1992. His autopsy was completed in early 1993. His remains are kept in the Minnesota Veterinary History Museum on the Saint Paul campus.
Amigo’s cranium has the temporary catalog number CC-53
I am currently working on an independent research project to learn as much about Amigo as I can. Stay tuned for that. Fun fact. An autopsy for an animal is called a “necropsy”. Technically, Amigo had a necropsy. But orangutans are so similar to us–it feels more appropriate for me to use the term autopsy; and that is a word more laypeople are familiar with.
