More model informationThis is a chamber from an amminoid that has been infilled with the Kaguyak Formation in Katmai National Park, Alaska. The formation is about 70 million years old from the Late Cretaceous. The septum, or the aragonite shell that separates the gas chambers in the shell of an amminoid, has likely been replaced with calcite. For a look at a more complete fossil from the same formation, check out the Ammonite Pachydiscus hazzardi.
Maximum width is 9 cm.
