Burgzand Noord is a location in de Waddenzee next to the island of Texel. It was in the 16th tot 18th century part of the old anchorage where VOC, WIC and other merchant ships (un)loaded their goods to the city of Amsterdam. Burgzand Noord 17 (BZN 17) is part of a protected monument area BZN. This big 3-masted wreck is probably a Dutch merchantship and can be dated in the mid17th century. The anchor was found during the archaeological assessment of the wreck in 2015. The greenish colour and lack of details are the result of the visibility in the Waddenzee which is usually under 1m (and those are the favourable conditions).
