More model informationAncient Egyptian painted limestone trial piece or fragment of relief, with the hieroglyphic inscription Ax (prounounced Akh), meaning ‘spirit’ or ‘supernatural power’, executed in raised relief. It is written with the crested ibis (Gardiner G25) , follwed by a round hieroglyph which has been variouly identified as a placenta or a sieve (Gardiner Aa1).
Traces of red paint remain on the bird, and traces of blue on the hieroglyph behind.
