Ancient Treasure Chest Automaton

This was my entry for #TreasureChestChallenge.

A recently discovered ancient treasure chest that also appears to be some kind of automaton with robotic legs. Which presumably meant that it could run away if ever it detected an intruder trying to prise it open to get to the mysterious bounty inside. Unfortunately, according to the folklore of the village where it was found, it didn’t work so well as they had a tendency to run off in the middle of the night for no apparent reason; lost, never to be seen again! Typical modern technology! Thankfully this particular treasure chest didn’t run away, but it has remained unopened for thousands of years. If only someone could remember where they left the key.
